Cause of death entity axis code [Automated]
Active
Term Description
A cause of death ICD code determined by computer and called an "entity axis code". The result value (an ICD code) is derived by natural language processing from the cause of death textual information entered by the provider on the death certificate. A separate cause of death code is assigned to each individual text entry entered on the death certificate. The reporting structure also includes the part/line number and sequence within the line for each distinct text block processed and successfully encoded. This term was created for the CDC HL7 Version 2.5 Implementation Guide: Reporting Death Information from the EHR to Vital Records, R1.2.
