Term Description

Indicates whether the patient meets the CDC field triage criteria pertaining to the decision by pre-hospital personnel to transport trauma victims to a specialized acute care facility (trauma center) versus an undesignated, non-specialized acute care facility. The goal of the decision scheme is to match the clinical needs of an injured patient to the resources and expertise of a given facility to care for them. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the acsCDCFieldTraumaCriteria variable included in the OASIS Emergency Date Exchange Language - Tracking of Emergency Patients (EDXL-TEP) and the HL7 v2.7.1 standard ADT and RAS messages.
