NMDAR subunit 1 Ab [Presence] in Serum by Immunofluorescence
Active
Term Description
Antineuronal antibodies against NMDAR1 are detected and characterized based on immunofluorescence staining pattern on multiple neuronal, non-neuronal tissues, and transformed substrate cells.
Part Description
LP229977-6 N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor subunit 1
N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor 1 (NMDAR1) is subunit of NMDA receptors and belongs to the glutamate receptor channel superfamily. It is encoded by the GRIN1 (Glutamate [NMDA] receptor subunit zeta-1) gene located on chromosome 9q34.3.[UniProt: Q05586] Glutamate receptors are highly permeable to calcium and important for nervous system functioning. NMDAR1 antibodies are detected in patients with paraneoplastic syndromes, autoimmune encephalopathies and related conditions. Identification of specific antineuronal autoantibodies may direct evaluation for underlying malignancy. Characterization of autoantibody specificity may allow syndromic classification and assist in diagnosis and management.
