The quantitative (Ct) value of the IS1001 insertional element DNA sequence of the Bordetella parapertussis genome detected in clinical specimens or culture isolates. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory Network's (ARLN) multiplex real-time PCR assay for the detection and identification of Bordetella pertussis, B. parapertussis, and B. holmesii.

The repetitive insertion sequence targets pIS1001 and hIS1001 are present in multiple copies per genome of Bordetella parapertussis and B. holmesii, respectively. The "p" in pIS1001 is for parapertussis and "h" in hIS1001 is for holmesii. These targets along with other target sequences (e.g. IS481) are used to detect and differentiate between B. pertussis, B. parapertussis, B. holmesii and other Bordetella species.
