Platelet glycoprotein IV (CD36) is an antigen expressed on platelets as well as several other cell types, such as monocytes, endothelial cells, and epithelial cells. PMID: 7506948 Detection of antibodies directed against platelet glycoprotein IV and other glycoprotein-specific platelet antibodies (GP IIb/IIIa, GP Ib/IX, GP Ia/IIa) can help differentiate between immune and nonimmune disorders in patients with thrombocytopenia.
