Bartonella quintana is a slim, fastidious coccobacillus spread through body lice. It is most commonly associated with trench fever, but can cause bacillary splenitis, bacteremia, as well as other diseases. B. quintana is present across the globe and is most commonly found in impoverished, crowded and unhygienic conditions such as refugee or homeless camps.[TFMD: Bartonella+quintana].
