Methadone is a narcotic analgesic which is used in the treatment of pain and as a primary treatment of narcotic addiction. Methadone metabolites include 2-ethylidene-1, 5-dimethyl-3,3-diphenylpyrrolidine (EDDP) and 2-ethyl-5-methyl-3,3-diphenylpyrroline (EMDP), both of which are inactive.
