Borrelia sp panel - Specimen by NAA with non-probe detection
Active
Term Description
Borrelia infections require adaptation to different hosts and environments. Borrelia species ensure their survival in these varied conditions by regulating the expression of five oligopeptide permease (Opp) substrate binding proteins, OppA1-OppA5. Each protein is independently regulated, and performs a unique adaptive function in the host environments. PMID: 17237172

Part Description
LP269206-1 Borrelia sp panel
The genus Borrelia was first described in the 1870s. They are spirochetes that differ in length, diameter, coil regularity and tightness, and number of periplasmic flagella. While length ranges from 8-30 micrometers, their widths are similar across species. Hematophagous arthropods are the vectors that transmit all of the Borrelia species to vertebrate hosts and include soft ticks, hard ticks and lice. B burgdorferi, which causes is the main cause of Lyme disease in the United States, is transmitted exclusively by the hard Ixodes ticks. B recurrentis, the organism that causes louse-borne relapsing fever, is transmitted by human body lice. A short list of Borrelia species with the disease associated with its infection is listed below. PMID: 3540570[https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/19/5/12-1480_article] PMID: 25892254
B burgdorferi, B mayonii, B afzelii, B garinii; Lyme borreliosis
B recurrentis; Louse-borne relapsing fever
B duttonii, B crocidurae, B hermsii; Tick-borne relapsing fever
B miyamotoi; Acute febrile illness
