The type (e.g. high, low, ultralow) of anterior surgical resection procedure performed. In patients with low rectal cancers, the ultralow anterior resection (uLAR) may be performed. Post surgery, these patients often experience major bowel dysfunctions that affect their quality of life. PMID: 29990965
