LP420804-9 HLA-Bw
HLA Bw4 and Bw6 epitopes were the the original HLA B distinctions recognized serologically. Since they represent epitopes shared by a number of different HLA antigens, they are called "public" epitopes, and could be considered supertypes. Either the Bw4 or the Bw6 epitope is expressed by virtually all HLA-B molecules, whereas Bw4 also is found on a few HLA-A proteins. PMID: 24977435
