Part Description
LP421095-3 Bunyamwera virus
Bunyamwera virus (BUNV) was isolated in 1943 from Aedes mosquitoes collected in the Semliki Forest, Uganda during yellow fever surveillance efforts. BUNV is a negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus PMID: 23569257. BUNV belongs to the family Peribunyaviridae, genus Orthobunyavirus [NCBI Taxonomy: 35304]. The vectors are mosquitoes including Aedes and Ae. Aegypti. The virus causes disease in livestock animals, avian species, and humans. BUNV generally produces mild symptoms including fever, headache, joint pain, and rash, but in some cases causes severe encephalitis PMID: 29707545.
