Dehydroaripiprazole [Presence] in Urine by Confirmatory method
Active
Part Description
LP189869-3 Dehydroaripiprazole
Dehydroaripiprazole is the active metabolite of the parent drug aripiprazole which is used to treat acute schizophrenia and other psychoses. Aripiprazole is metabolized to dehydroaripiprazole by the enzymes CYP3A4 and CYP2D6. PMID: 17853280 Dehydroaripiprazole binds with postsynaptic dopamine receptors and presynaptic autoreceptors, blocking dopamine from attaching to the receptors and preventing a postsynaptic response that is usually triggered by dopamine.[https://web.williams.edu/imput/synapse/pages/IIIB5.htm] The blood levels of dehydroaripiprazole vary widely between patients who have taken the same dose of the drug. Therapeutic monitoring is important to verify the patient's blood level is within the therapeutic range, to identify patients who are non-compliant in taking their medication, and to prevent drug toxicity. PMID: 22020350
