There are numerous was to access LOINC’s database of codes, from downloading the file to accessing the content programmatically. These options require you to be logged in to our website. If you do not have a LOINC account, you can sign up for free.

Downloading LOINC

Version 2.83

Regenstrief Institute releases updates to LOINC twice each year. The current version is 2.83. It contains the CSV table files along with several artifacts to help in research and implementation.

Previous releases

Generally you should always use the currently available version, however we realize past releases may help in auditing or for historical purposes. All older LOINC releases are available in our archive.

We have created a web app with powerful filter and search syntax functionality to help you find appropriate LOINC codes. You can also export search results.

Hierarchy Browser

This tool is the complement to SearchLOINC where you can view various tree structures in LOINC to help identify appropriate concepts for use.

LOINC Ontology Browser

LOINC can be viewed and searched within a SNOMED CT hierarchy structure using this web-based tool.

Language translations

LOINC concepts have been translated from the source U.S. English to several dialects. These are included in our download file and APIs.

UMLS

LOINC is integrated into the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) Metathesaurus database from the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM).

Specialized subsets

Some countries have established official LOINC subsets for use in their jurisdictions, e.g., pCLOCD in Canada and CLCI in India.
