Description
Acinetobacter baumannii is an aerobic, gram negative bacterium and part of the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-baumannii (ACB) complex. PMCID: PMC4757776 It is a frequent cause of both community and health care-associated infections, including bacteremia, pneumonia, meningitis, urinary tract infections, and wound infections, because of its ability to survive in a wide range of environmental conditions and the extent of its multidrug-resistance. PMID: 16447117 A. baumannii is considered to be among the most difficult antimicrobial-resistant gram-negative bacilli to control and treat. PMID: 18444865 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
