Inhalation challenge test report
Active
Description
Inhalation challenge (bronchoprovocation) tests include direct agents (e.g., histamine and methacholine), indirect agents (e.g., exercise, cold air, and AMP), pharmacologic and other methods. Such challenge tests are performed to assess the cause and severity of asthma in patients. Direct bronchoprovocation challenge, such a methacholine, are most frequently performed and act directly on a specific airway smooth muscle receptor. However, recent studies have suggested that indirect agents are highly specific for asthma and may have greater clinical relevance. Iinhalation challenge test reports may contain information related to the testing procedure, results (spirometry readings) and interpretation. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
