Description
Anti-Enterocyte Antibodies are used in the diagnosis of Autoimmune enteropathy (AIE), which is a rare cause of diarrhea associated with circulating gut antibodies or autoimmune conditions. The disease is mostly found in children, but there have been rare cases in adults. The disease causes villous atrophy which is non-responsive to dietary changes. AIE may be treated with corticosteroids or immunosuppressive drugs.
