Description
Hairy cells are malignant B-cells that appear as fine (hairlike) microvilli under a microscope due to the characteristic cytoplasmic projections. PMID: 5322749 Patient's with hairy cell leukemia (HCL), a type of chronic lymphoid leukemia, have excess hairy cells which accumulate in the bone marrow and interfer with the production of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets.
