Version 2.77

Description

Two forms of placental alkaline phopsphatases (P-ALP) exist: P1 (the major form) and P2 (the minor form P2), representing about 90% and 10%, respectively. In pregnancy, P-ALP is first detected between the sixteenth and twentieth week of gestation. It increases gradually until delivery and usually disappears within four to seven days post-partum. P-ALP is also found in some malignant diseases, including ovarian cancers, sarcomas, pancreatic and stomach cancers. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
