Description

Fibrin monomers are created when Thrombin cleaves fibrinopeptides A and B from fibrinogen. The presence of fibrin monomer may be an early indicator of pro-thrombin activity. Fibrin monomer concentrations are typically compared with those of D-dimer to monitor various hemostatic conditions, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) status. Fibrin monomers are referred to by many names: Fibrin Monomer, Soluble Fibrin Monomer, Soluble Fibrin, Fibrin Monomer Complexes, and Fibrin Monomer Complexes, all which are indistinguishable and interchangeable.
