CitationPubMed CentralVancomycin is a tricyclic glycopeptide antibiotic. It is used parenterally to treat septicemia, ;neumonie, cellulitis, endocarditis, and methicillin-resistant S aureus meningitis. It is used orally to treat Clostridium difficile pseudomembranous colitis. Adverse drug reactions to vancomycin include nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, and hematologic toxicity. Vancomycin is also known to cause IgE-mediated reactions including anaphylaxis. PMID: 27156746
