Descriptions

Interleukin 12 (IL-12) is an interleukin that is naturally produced by dendritic cells[1], macrophages and human B-lymphoblastoid cells (NC-37) in response to antigenic stimulation. IL-12 is linked with autoimmunity. Copyright Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License. See http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ for details. The Interleukins belong to the family termed cytokines. They are peptides used by immune and inflammatory cells to communicate and control cell operations. The cytokines have some similar actions to the Growth Factors but Growth Factors regulate proliferation of non-immune cells. Source: Inter Science Institute, Inter Science Institute
