Platelet dry mass distribution width
Active
Description
Platelet dry mass distribution width (PMDW) is the standard deviation of the platelet dry mass distribution and a measure of the variability of platelet density. Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is associated with the dramatic hemostasis activation, with evidence of fibrin creation and platelet consumption. PMDW may be increased in DIC patient mortality and thus may provide prognostic evidence on mortality for patients suspected of having DIC. PMID: 18333843 Source: Regenstrief LOINC , PMID:18333843
