Description
Indocyanine green is a tricarbocyanine dye used diagnostically in liver function tests and to determine blood volume and cardiac output. The indocyanine green clearance (IGC) is a sensitive indicator to evaluate liver function in patients with cirrhosis and as a predictor of successful hepatic resection in cirrhotic patients. The rate of clearance of indocyanine green (IGC) dye by the patient's liver is determined by measuring the concentration of the dye in the patient's plasma at various times after a known amount of the dye is administered to the patient.
