Description

3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaric acid (also known as meglutol, 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaric acid, β-hydroxy-β-methylglutaric acid, and dicrotalic acid) is a hypolipidemic agent. It is also a marker for a genetic disease called hydroxymethylglutaric aciduria or 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A lyase deficiency. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
