Staphylococcus aureus sau3AI gene
Active
Description
Staphylococcus aureus group II strains are associated with skin infections, and the sau3AI gene is conserved across S aureus group II strains. The gene produces a restriction endonuclease, and the presence of this gene in clinical specimens can be used to identify S aureus group II as one of the pathogens responsible for a specific infection.
