Version 2.78

Description

N-tau methylimidazoleacetate (N-tau MIAA) is the primary urinary metabolite of histamine. PMID: 2228870 Increases in N-tau MIAA excretion is associated with systemic mastocytosis, a rare disorder caused by the presence of too many mast cells (mastocytes) and CD34+ mast cell precursors. PMID: 17587883 Because mast cells play a role in allergic reactions, the symptoms of mastocytosis often are similar to the symptoms of an allergic reaction and include fatigue, skin lesions and itching, diarrhea, food and drug intolerance, and anaphylaxis.
