Bruton tyrosine kinase
Active
Description
Bruton tyrosine kinase (Btk) is an intracellular protein that plays a crucial role in B-cell development. Mutations in the BTK gene are known to cause primary immunodeficiency disease X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA, Bruton's agammaglobulinemia). Approximately 20% to 30% of XLA patients may have intact or truncated Btk protein with abnormal function. Therefore, gene mutation analysis by sequencing or other methods is more definitive for diagnosing XLA. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
