Description
Escherichia coli strains with the K1 capsule antigen account for the majority (∼80%) of isolates from patients with neonatal E. coli meningitis (NMEC). PMID: 16552050 Bacterial meningitis in neonates is a severe infectious disease with mortality rates varying between 10% and 15%.
