Response entropy
Active
Description
Entropy is a measure of the depth of anesthesia. State entropy uses the irregularity of the EEG signal in the 0.8 to 32 Hz frequency band to measure cerebral cortex activity, and response entropy uses the FEMG signal in the 0.8 to 47 Hz frequency band to measure cerebral cortex and facial muscle activity, respectively. Typical values for patients undergoing general anesthesia are between 40 and 60 for either state or response entropy, and at these levels of entropy, the probability of patient accidental awareness is low.
These are proprietary measurements and the formulas are not available.
