Grey alder is the most widely distributed Alder in Europe and western North America.
Alder pollen is a significant cause of asthma, allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, in particular in springtime in Middle and Northern Europe, and in conjunction with Birch and Hazel pollen.
