Description
Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a method for assessing body composition in patients. BIA measures the flow of an electric current through body tissues which can then be used to determine the total body water (TBW), fat mass (FM), fat-free mass (FFM), and fat mass percentage. Many BIA equations are available in the literature for estimating FFM. They varying in terms of the parameters included in multiple regression equations and in their applicability to individuals with different clinical presentations.[Mialich et. al. (2014).
