Version 2.77

Description

The E wave and A waves on Doppler ultrasound represent the flow of blood into the ventricle (ventricular filling) during early diastole and atrial contraction, respectively. The E wave is typically larger than the A wave. The E wave deceleration time is the time between the E wave peak velocity and its return to baseline in mid-diastole before the start of the A wave. The deceleration time is a measure of diastolic function that is sensitive to atrial pressure and ventricular relaxation and compliance. PMID: 20451803 Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 20451803
