Description
Porcine respiratory coronavirus (PRCV) is a mutant strain of transmissible gastroenteritis virus causing mild or subclinical respiratory infections in young swine. Research has shown that the primary cells infected with PRCV are epithelial cells of the bronchioles, type II pneumocytes, and alveolar and septal macrophages. PMID: 9191988 Potential targets when testing for PRCV RNA include a region of the nucleocapsid protein (N) gene and the spike (S) gene. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
