Version 2.77

Description

Guanosine is a purine nucleoside that can be phosphorylated to become guanosine monophosphate (GMP), cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), guanosine diphosphate (GDP), and guanosine triphosphate (GTP). The guanine-based purines play an important role in various biochemical processes such as synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins, muscle contraction, and extracellular signal transduction. PMID: 23846842 ] They exert important neuroprotective and neuromodulator roles in the central nervous system, which may be related to inhibition of the glutamatergic neurotransmission activity.
