Cytosine
Active
Description
Cytosine is a pyrimidine base found in DNA and RNA that pairs with guanine. Cytosine is deaminated into uracil by a number of cytosine deaminases. While cytosine deamination is part of normal physiology and signals certain DNA repair pathways, inappropriate deamination can create DNA mutations and has been associated with the development of certain types of solid tumors and lymphoma.
