Description
The soluble form of CD27 (sCD27) is a functional protein directly involved in T-cell activation. Increased levels of sCD27 have been found in systemic lupus erythematosus, viral infections, and lymphoid malignancies. PMID: 23677477 It is a marker of disease burden in patients with Waldenström's macroglobulinemia. PMID: 19362974 The protein is also used as a biomarker for leptomeningeal involvement (LI) of CD27-expressing lymphoproliferations, such as B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and chronic B-lymphocytic leukemia.
