Description
Cardiolipin is a negatively charged phospholipid that is preferentially located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an acquired, autoimmune disorder that is characterized by the presence of autoantibodies to a variety of targets, including cardiolipin, and beta 2 glycoprotein 1. Common presentations of APS include thrombotic disease and pregnancy complications, including recurrent miscarriages. Diagnostic laboratory criteria for APS include anti-cardiolipin IgG and IgM antibodies. PMID: 24919006 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
