Version 2.80

Description

The fractional excretion of magnesium (FEMg) is a measure of the percentage of magnesium excreted in the urine versus the magnesium reabsorbed by the kidney. For hypomagnesemic patients with normal renal function, FEMg is a useful tool for determining the etiology of hypomagnesemia. A value of more than four per cent is indicative of inappropriate renal magnesium loss. PMID: 9513927 Source: Regenstrief LOINC , PMID:9513927
