Spermatozoa.normal morphology
Active
Description
Morphology of the sperm refers to sperm shape. Sperm morphology evaluation includes assessment of specific head, tail, and mid-piece characteristics according to one of two sets of criteria: Kruger criteria are strict and consider minute irregularities as abnormal, while World Health Organization (WHO) criteria are more lenient and do not classify as many sperm as abnormal. In some cases, morphology is used to decide whether a couple should use in vitro fertilization (IVF) to attempt a pregnancy. PMID: 9622414 Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 9622414
