Longitudinal strain rate.systole.max
Active
Description
Sensitivity of peak longitudinal strain rate to changes in contractile state and loading conditions using two-dimensional images has been well documented. Longitudinal peak systolic strain is found to have an inverse relationship with circumferential strain and wall stress. Using two-dimension strain imaging, a peak systolic longitudinal strain rate predicted significant stenosis with high sensitivity and specificity, suggesting the potential for early diastolic deformation to improve diagnostic accuracy. Longitudinal strains are reduced in patients with myocardial infarctions, correlate with infarct size and ejection fraction, and predict left ventricular remodeling and clinical events.
