Version 2.80

Description

Edoxaban (DU-176b, trade names Savaysa, Lixiana) is an oral anticoagulant drug that acts as a direct factor Xa inhibitor, by selectively inhibiting free factor Xa in the coagulation cascade, resulting in reduced thrombin generation. Edoxaban is used for the prevention of stroke and non-central-nervous-system systemic embolism in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The FDA also approved edoxaban for treating deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients who have been treated with a parenteral anticoagulant for 5 to 10 days. Source: LOINC partner 1
