Description

Left ventricular (LV) systolic dyssynchrony represents variability in the timing of contraction in different LV myocardial segments and is an indicator of LV systolic dysfunction. LV dyssynchrony is evaluated using cardiac gated SPECT and is based on time to end-systole (TES) measurements for each of the 17 LV segments. The TES measures the time from the end of diastole, which is the same for all segments, to the end of systole, which varies across segments depending on the degree of LV dysfunction.
The maximum difference in time to end-systole (MDTES), is the lag between the earliest and the latest end-systole among the 17 LV segments. The standard deviation of time to end-systole (SDTES) is the standard deviation of TES among all of 17 LV segments. Increasing MDTES and SDTES values, which represent increasing LV dyssynchrony, are associated with decreased LV ejection fraction and LV dysfunction. PMID: 22459387
The difference in time to end-systole between the lateral and septal segments (DTES-LS) is also derived from the TES. MDTES, SDTES and DTES-LS are typically expressed as percentages. PMID: 26860109 Source: Regenstrief LOINC, PMID: 22459387
