Version 2.80

Description

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is a protein made up of two polypeptides with molecular masses of 26 and 28 kilodaltons, respectively. MOG is located on the surface of myelin and oligodendrocyte cytoplasmic membranes and binds to the monoclonal antibody 8-18C5. PMID: 1373175 MOG is a probable autoantigen target associated with multiple sclerosis. PMID: 1373175 That being said, there is variation in the level of MOG found in patients with multiple sclerosis and inconsistencies between MOG antibody measurements using western blot and ELISA test methods making it a questionable biomarker for multiple sclerosis.
