Version 2.80

Description

The Rothman Index (RI) is a calculation based on data found in a patient's electronic health record. The index may help identify patients at increased risk for 24-hour mortality and 30-day unplanned readmission based on a set of 26 clinical measurements gathered from nursing assessments, vital signs, laboratory results and cardiac rhythms. Two sub-models of the RI are used to measure risk - one which includes nursing assessments, vital signs and laboratory data (RIwithLab) and one which includes nursing assessments, vital signs, and cardiac rhythm (RInoLab). During admission, RI values are continuously updated whenever a new result is available. RI calculated at discharge is used to predict risk for unplanned readmission. The RI score typically ranges from 0 to 100, but critically ill patients may have negative RI values as low as −91. PMID: 23831554 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
