Bacterial beta-lactam resistance AmpC
Active
Description
Bacterial AmpC beta lactamases confer resistance to extended-spectrum cephalosporins and monobactams and are encoded by either plasmid-mediated or chromosomal genes. Specific AmpC beta lactamase genes include ACC, ACT, FOX, MIR, MOX, CMY and DHA. Other types of bacterial beta-lactamase enzymes include carbapenemases and extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL). PMID: 18093140 The genes are named with the prefix "bla", which stands for "beta-lactam", followed by the enzyme, for example, blaACC.
