Version 2.78

Description

Veterinary Medicine: Tildipirosin is a macrolide antibiotic used in the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) that is administered as a single subcutaneous dose. The antibiotic primarily targets Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni bacteria which are the three most common pathogens found in BRD. Tildipirosin achieves a much higher concentration in lung tissue and bronchial fluid for an extended period of time compared to plasma. The lung tissue to plasma concentration ratio peaks close to 200, while bronchial fluid to plasma peaks at around 70. The terminal half-life in plasma, lung tissue, and bronchial fluid are 9, 10, and 11 days, respectively. PMID: 22188102 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
