Description
HuD is a family of onconeuronal RNA-binding proteins that is known to produce autoantibodies in patients with lung cancer. These antibodies have also been associated with paraneoplastic neurologic diseases and are present in as many as 16% of patients with neuroendocrine tumors like small cell lung cancer. PMID: 21138858 Ongoing studies are investigating the utility HuD being used as a biomarker for the early detection of lung cancer in high risk asymptomatic patients.
