Version 2.78

Description

The melanoma-associated antigen, or MAGE-A4, belongs to the Cancer-Testis Antigens (CTAs) family. There is some evidence that it may be involved in embryonal development and in tumor transformation or progression. CTAs have been found in several cancers and are able to stimulate antibody and cellular immune responses. The MAGE-A4 antigen is expressed in ovarian serous carcinoma, some squamous carcinomas, testicular germ cell tumors, esophageal mucosal melanoma, and triple-negative breast cancers.[https://www.phosphosite.org/proteinAction?id=4032100&showAllSites=true] MAGE-A4 antigen is overexpressed in lung cancer as well as the cancers listed above. PMID: 22492236MAGE-A4 is overexpressed in liver cancer and elicits and antibody response in some patients with liver cancer. PMID: 25093332 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
