Version 2.80

Description

Sertindole (brand names: Serdolect and Serlect) is an atypical antipsychotic that effects dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain and is used for the treatment of schizophrenia. In 2009, the FDA determined that sertindole was effective in the treatment of schizophrenia but considered unsafe based on findings showing increased risks for cardiac anomalies, weight gain, rhinitis, and problems with sexual functioning compared to haloperidol. PMID: 16034864. As of October 2010, sertindole has not been approved for use in the United States by the FDA. Source: Regenstrief LOINC
