Description

Veterinary medicine:
Porcine circoviruses (PCV) are small nonenveloped, single stranded, negative sense, circular DNA viruses in the Circoviridae family. The three species of PCV are PCV1, PCV2, and PCV3. PMID: 21945213 PCV3 is a recently described circovirus species that is circulating in many countries including the United States, China, South Korea and Poland. PCV3 was originally believed to reside mainly in pigs with respiratory disease, skin disease, and reproductive disorders. But evidence suggests PCV3 may also be found in apparently healthy pigs or in those with diarrhea or other clinical symptoms. PMID: 29132394 Source: Regenstrief LOINC
